Adem\u00e1s, es electroqu\u00edmicamente activo. Estas caracter\u00edsticas son muy adecuadas para los modernos veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos. El litio es el elemento met\u00e1lico m\u00e1s ligero y tiene un potencial de redox bajo ( \ud835\udc38\ud835\udc3f\ud835\udc56+\u2044\ud835\udc3f\ud835\udc56 0 = \u22123,04V ), que permite un voltaje alto y una alta densidad de energ\u00eda. Las bater\u00edas de litio tienen una vida \u00fatil m\u00e1s larga, una mayor densidad de potencia, pueden cargarse m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente hasta cierto nivel y son bater\u00edas m\u00e1s ligeras en comparaci\u00f3n con las bater\u00edas tradicionales. Sin embargo, no se encuentra en concentraciones muy altas.<\/p>\n<p>El litio se encuentra en forma i\u00f3nica en el agua. Reacciona con el agua para formar hidr\u00f3xido de litio e hidr\u00f3geno.
